Description
The qualification covers all the components required to work effectively and competently as a fitness instructor specifically for the 16+ age group, which includes Anatomy and physiology for exercise, knowledge of how to support clients who take part in exercise and physical activity, health, safety and welfare in a fitness environment, principles of exercise, fitness and health, planning and instructing health related exercise and physical activity to children.
Learners will develop the knowledge and skills needed to plan, instruct and review exercise and physical activities for children; they will also learn how to provide effective support for children who take part in exercise and physical activity.
Learners will select this qualification if working with children, promoting and instructing exercise and physical activity with children is the discipline route they wish to take and they wish to study part time at a college or with a private training provider.
Assessment takes the form of multiple choice question papers, coursework to be completed at home, and on-going and summative practical gym assessment.
Learners who complete this qualification are eligible to join the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) and CIMSPA as a Level 2 member under the category of Fitness Instructor.
